Black Background Equine Sessions

Equine black background sessions are a great way to showcase your horse in your home or with friends and family. Personalities and characters are brought to life in these shoots as each and every horse is different. These sessions typically turn out 3-7 different images from a combination of headshots, medium length, and full body shots in order to feature your horses best qualities. These images are created from a relatively easy photo capturing process and brought to life during the extensive editing process. My clients will receive their photos through a personalized online gallery with digital photos ready for social media and small and full size print options available. Package options are listed below.

Let’s get creative!

If you want your horses hair to be in show braids, use multicolored yarn such as rainbow or pink, to add an extra pop to your image

Use hoof polish on your horses hooves for full body shots, to bring a shine to their hooves

Helpful Tips For Your Black Background Session

Have a clean horse! If you have a grey or white horse try to prepare them as much as possible for your shoot to make my job in the editing process easier. For example if your horse has a rather dirty tail, wash it as you would for a horse show and remove any green stains or poop stains from your horse. Add show sheen or a finishing mist to their coat to make it shine
Decide what tack you would like to use prior to the shoot, most of my clients have a leather halter and a nice bridle that they choose for their portraits. Nylon halters aren’t recommended. Some horses are good enough to not need a lead or halter at all, and that is an option as well
A clean dark barn door way, arena opening, or aisle way is a must for these shoots, I use all secondary natural light and they can’t be taken out in the open. I am happy to assist in finding the perfect place for the shoot once on site
