Horse and Rider Portrait Sessions

As equestrians getting to capture the bonds that we share with our horses is magical and heartwarming. Many people will say “It’s just a horse” but we know that they are much more than that. We see them as friends, partners, members of the family and sometimes even therapists that are really great at listening. I had my very first photoshoot with my very own Ellie when I was a senior in high school and I still cherish those photos to this day. They are so special to me because they show the loving and humorous bond that we share with one another even 5 years after the fact. One of my most favorite photos from this session can be seen on my about page. My goal as a photographer is to give each and every one of my clients a gallery that portrays their special bond that they have with their equine friend to cherish for a lifetime.

Helpful Tips for Your Portrait Session:

Have a clean horse! If you have a grey or white horse try to prepare them as much as possible for your shoot to make my job in the editing process easier. For example if your horse has a rather dirty tail, wash it as you would for a horse show and remove any green stains or poop stains from your horse. Add show sheen or a finishing mist to their coat to make it shine
Decide what tack you would like to use prior to the shoot, most of my clients have a leather halter and a nice bridle that they choose for their portraits. Nylon halters aren’t recommended.
